SSP is the leading dedicated operator of food and beverage brands in travel locations worldwide. We have a long heritage in food and travel, with over 60 years experience in the industry.
We are looking for a Category Manager to join our established Commercial team to deliver commercial and customer insight, with the aim of maximising profit and minimising risk through a structured analytical approach across the SSP Brand portfolio.
As Category Manager you will have a diverse role with 4 key areas for success.
Ensure effective analysis of activities within Commercial plans, to both forecast and review the impact of range changes across multiple brands, aligned with the purchasing, brand and NPD teams
This will involve reviewing data pre to post or year on year, normalisation of data to ensure seasonal and external factors driving performance are mitigated within reason
Present to senior stakeholders to demonstrate the hypothesis supporting the forecasted or the data interpretation of activity reviews including recommendations on strengthening the actions taken to drive additional value
Analysis of current category performance to shape and implement change to drive sales and profit benefit to the organisation
Ensure that the true cost to the business of product decisions is considered
Ensure control of product trials is managed and analysis shared with key stakeholders in relevant forums
Driving centrally identified opportunities via multiple stakeholders in order to maximise profit
Work with Brand Managers to ensure consistent implementation of the agreed strategy at brand level
Ensure a pricing strategy is maintained and delivered, by brand to maximise product and category profitability
Ensure that regular updates and reports are completed effectively and distributed on time
Identify and deliver promotional activity that drives incremental cash profit through transactional growth, increases transaction value and always drive incremental cash profit
The ideal candidate will be commercially numerate and astute with advanced IT skills. You should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the considerations required when reviewing activity and developing a forecast for new activity, with a focus on driving sales & profit.
University Degree, minimum 2:1
Category Management/Analyst experience preferred
Ideally previous experience within relevant industry/category or commercial marketing function
Experience in multi brand or Retail environment
Highly numerate – ability to translate management information into profit/growthls
Proven track record in understanding and delivery of sales, profit and margin and all relevant commercial and brand marketing KPI’s
Excellent computer skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Pivot Tables
Ability to communicate and manage at all levels, both internal and external
