ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Site Reliability Engineer you will be providing support to current customers on a day to day basis supporting their Linux based systems that have been previously built by Claranet (Bashton). You will also have exposure to new projects and included as part of a team to deliver those projects based on the customer’s requirements which will give you exposure to new technologies and skills.
As part of supporting the current customer base you will also identify possible enhancements to the customers system that could initiate new projects to develop those enhancements.
Providing support to our existing customer base and managing customer issues through to resolution where possible;
Assisting in the build of new customer environments working as part of a larger project team;
Continually improving technical implementations
Acting as a mentor to newer members of the team to increase the knowledge and technical skills within the team.
Good knowledge of GNU/Linux;
Basic knowledge of at least one scripting language;
Enthusiastic and eager to learn a wide variety or technologies.
Experience working as part of a larger team to deliver larger projects based on customer deadlines and customer requirements.
In addition, the following are highly desirable:
Configuration management experience (Puppet/Chef/Ansible/Salt)
Maths or (Computer) Science degree
Experience of working in high-traffic environments
Experience with Amazon Web Services or Google Compute Engine at scale
