** Calling all Psychology Graduates
My client primary school in Greenwich are now recruiting for a psychology graduate seeking a career as an educational psychologist. This is a lovely three-form entry London school that have a great relationship with the local community and are progressing very well with pupils achieving higher grades every year!
The SENCO is very keen to meet with graduates who have a passion for teaching young people with learning difficulties and have some experience in doing so. This can include voluntary or involuntary work such as caring, coaching, mentoring, teaching, overseas, youth work, community work or volunteering in schools.
Empathy is important in this position as a teaching assistant as you will be assigned to a pupil with learning difficulties. Although your main responsibility will be with the pupil you will also be working as a general teaching assistant within the classroom.
Daily tasks as a teaching assistant will include the set up of classrooms, general support and assisting the pupil with their work cross curricular. The head teacher is always very keen to meet with graduates that are driven, motivated and have a passion for teaching. Therefore, this would be a great opportunity for any graduate seeking a long term career in education.
The successful graduate will be given full training and support during the placement. The SENCO has also included the opportunity to be put on the School Direct programme which will be vital for any individual pursuing a future career in teaching. This will be optional as the school will appreciate a graduate seeking experience to go on to do a PGCE.
This particular London school has great transport links going in and out of London and will be a great opportunity for a recent graduate in paving the way to a future career as an educational psychologist.
