Process Technician | Processs Maintenance Engineer
Automation / Instrumentation / PLCs / Electrical and Mechanical maintenance
£44,000 to £48,000 plus pension, over time, training & development
We are currently looking to recruit an Electrically Biased, Multi Skilled Technician to join the Engineering department on a permanent basis.
The Role: To effectively perform Automation – Instrumentation – Electrical and Mechanical maintenance on all Manufacturing processes and where required packaging equipment, inclusive of general building maintenance and utilities. The role will be performed in a safe manner, whilst focusing on Continuous improvement, Quality, H&S, Wastage and Environment to ensure the optimum effectiveness of our operations
Daily liaison with all customers to identify and prioritise workload
Efficient communication in the handover of breakdowns
Effective fault finding on all systems inclusive of PLC and SCADA control systems
Planned Preventative Maintenance:
PPM work on all Siemens S5 / S7 PLCs – Electrical & mechanical equipment
Process – Valves, pumps & instrumentation
Packaging – Fillers, packers, conveyors, inspection & coding equipment.
Utilities – Air, water, steam
Maintaining full functionality of the PPM System including quality of entered information.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality:
Improve mechanical and electrical safety of all plant & equipment
Permit to work authorized person
Produce written procedures for operating and engineering activities
Conduct Risk Assessments in area of responsibility.
Consider energy reduction / wastage / quality in all aspects of the role.
Ensure Quality & Hygiene procedures are adhered to.
Report any Environmental issues immediately.
Manage and provide technical support to local & capital projects.
Deliver local projects to completion.
Identifying and deliver training and development needs across own and other site functions.
Conduct RCAs where required and close out actions.
Understand Lean / CI activity – develop ideas and action when agreed and carry through to completion and measure effectiveness.
Strive to improve all areas of the manufacturing operation. Prompt and reliable attendance with a flexible attitude.
Knowledge & Experience:
3 years’ experience within an Automated FMCG environment
City & Guilds, ONC, OND, HNC, HND, DEGREE
Served a full engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent
Multi skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
Basic workshop skills
Able to fault find and rectify
Experience of planned preventative maintenance
Good communications skills at all levels. Excellent English communication skills (written & verbal).
Experience of working to appropriate health & safety standards and regulations
Able to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Willingness to train and learn new skills.
Must have flexibility in working hours and shift patterns to provide cover for operational requirements.
