The team ensure the delivery of accurate and timely expense allocation figures throughout all L&G UK businesses. The team achieves this by running the allocation model within a strong process and control framework, ensuring appropriate audit trails and reconciliations to all input data; alongside the management of allocation rules and proactive business partnering to ensure the allocation methodology is appropriate for reporting needs.
The Senior Finance Analyst will deliver the MER and allocated expenses using the expense and allocation model. They will assist with continual development and evolution of this system whilst acting as an expert in relation to expense and allocation reporting queries.
Allocated Expenses – Reporting & Development. Run the allocation process to meet business demands within agreed timescales.
Contribute to the evolution of the allocation model and implementation of model changes and process improvements to meet business quality and timing requirements.
Expense and Allocation Model – Advocacy & Development Be an advocate of the system, develop both the user community and the platform to advise and challenge the user community to harness the platform for maximum efficiency and productivity.
Contribute to the proactive evolution of the allocation model; and the implementation of model changes / process improvements to meet quality and timing requirements for each forecasting cycle.
Forecasting & Planning. Assist with the timetabling of the expense Plan and Forecast processes. Provide MI that promotes any process / system improvements and a culture of transparency on allocated costs.
Business Partnering & Teamwork – Work collaboratively with the business partners to strengthen business partnering links. Work collaboratively within the team to manage multiple priorities and ensure delivery targets are met.
ACCA / CIMA finalist / newly qualified
A degree is desirable but not essential if comparable experience in an analytical finance role can be demonstrated.
Intermediate / Advanced Excel
A good understanding of process integrity and task dependency in complex processes sufficient to propose design options, audit, test and understand the constraints of complex spreadsheet and database models
Strong desktop skills – particularly Excel – with the ability to gather data from a number of complex systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Strong finance system skills – particularly on Oracle ledger systems and MI reporting tools – with the ability to integrate and assess data for validity and onward reporting
Good understanding of expense allocation methodologies and their applications in meeting business requirements.
Good written and verbal communication
Ability to interpret numerical data and understand business metrics in the context of allocated expenses.
