This SEN Learning Support Assistant position would suit a calm graduate who has previous experience working with SEN children either in a volunteer or paid role and is able to show an empathy for SEN. You should have the capability to strike up good working relations with your pupils and have a kind, caring approach. It is essential for you to possess a reputation for communicating effectively with colleagues, parents and students.
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant you will be complementing a team of staff supporting pupils aged between 11 and 18, who have varying special needs including literacy, behaviour difficulties and/or physical impairment. The school offers mainstream classroom support in order that pupils can access the National Curriculum. Patience, tact and determination are essential qualities is this SEN Learning Support Assistant role. Within the role of SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will also assist with the development and implementation of individual education/behaviour plans and personal care programmes. You will also need to be prepared as an SEN Learning Support Assistant to assist physically impaired pupils with personal care for which training will be provided where necessary.
