My Family Care is recruiting for an ambitious and driven individual to join our growing organisation and play a key part in the restructuring of our busy finance team. The Assistant Accountant will be responsible implementing and monitoring new financial processes and controls within the team and the wider company and will ultimately be responsible for the integrity of the transactional ledgers of the group (Sales Ledgers, Purchase Ledgers, Cash book).
Whilst a big part of the role will be very hands on, for example ensuring that key supplier accounts are promptly reconciled, there will also be a requirement for the successful candidate to be able to communicate changes in processes to both financial and on financial staff, and to carry out the checks and controls needed to ensure that the processes are being adhered to. As such the successful candidate will need to be able to deal confidently with staff at all levels, and possess the technical acumen and communication skills to advise colleagues effectively on our financial procedures.
The role will also provide a direct support function to the Group Financial Controller, and work closely with the senior finance team. During a period of major change within both the organisation and the team itself this will provide lots of opportunities to get involved with new projects, and gain insight into the decision making process in the Finance Team of a growing SME. As such this would be a great role for someone with a solid background in transactional finance, and long term ambitions to take on a senior finance position (probably a studier, although not a requirement), who wants to take a step up and build their experience.
Desired skills and experience
2-3 years + experience in transactional finance roles, multi-ledger ideally and with experience of account reconciliation
Solid knowledge of accounting fundamentals, in particular double entry bookkeeping, and the common sense to be able to apply them in a real world commercial environment
Great IT skills, in general and particularly as an Excel user
Confident and outgoing personality
Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately in person, via email, and via telephone
Good command of spoken and written English
Ambitious, but also a team player
