Since 2003 Homes Caring for Autism has faced continual growth and now operate autism specific residential services across Wiltshire, Somerset and North Somerset. Due to operational requirements we have a fantastic opportunity to recruit a female waking nights Support Worker/Care Worker to care for and support individuals on the autistic spectrum.
We are committed to training and developing our staff teams so no experience or qualifications are required. You will attend a fully paid induction programme and will receive regular ongoing training, both mandatory and autism specific, along with continuous professional and personal development. We will also pay for you to undertake a diploma in Health & Social Care, if you do not already have one.
Duties will include:
Remaining awake whilst on shift;
Ensuring the safety of the people we support and maintaining an up to date knowledge of each individual’s care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
Creating and encouraging good relationships and communication with the staff as well as the people who we support.
Staying attentive and doing everything viable to protect the people who we support, and others, from abuse of any nature.
Managing challenging behaviours safely and in a supportive manner by using the skills and approved approaches through training.
To ensure the safety of the people we support during the night. To ensure the security of the premises during the night.
To maintain a high standard of good housekeeping, specifically waking night staff are required to undertake a variety of domestic work, typically deep cleaning bathrooms, ironing, stock control of food and freezers, temperature checks and updating paperwork.
Hours, Pay and Benefits
Part time contracted hours will be 24 hours per week.
Hours will be organised according to a rota system which will be notified usually a minimum of 2 weeks in advance.
Hours will include weekend work.
£8.88 per hour equating to £11,082.24 per annum (Based on 24 hours per week).
Enhanced payments for Bank Holiday working.
