My client, a leading seller of material and products to the retail industry are seeking an experienced Buyer/Procurement specialist.

This growing organisation are seeking a confident individual with excellent negotiation skills to work within an establishedprocurement/estimating team and support the sales/estimating/production/warehouse and finance team. Reporting into the Procurement Manager.

The main purpose of the role is to manage the end to end buying process, negotiating and assessing products and suppliers to realise commercially viable solutions and practices to maximise profits within agreed timescales. Duties include (but not limited to)

  • Negotiate Procurement from the UK and Europe

  • Attending daily procurement update meetings to communicate what deliveries are due

  • Assessment and sourcing of high quality products and supplies

  • Management of supply chain to minimise exposure to risk

  • Supplier conformance through managing and monitoring the supply of materials against requirements and quality standards

  • Understanding the impact on operations and minimising re-work at point of receipt

  • Monitor invoicing procedures, highlighting variances and discrepancies in conjunction with the Accounts Team

  • Negotiation of material costs, payments terms and carriage, optimising cost and quality

  • Record and update relevant documents, systems and registers with accurate product information and data

  • Ensuring Primary and Secondary suppliers in place for all lines

  • Good understanding of the marketplace, in particular competitor performance

  • Regular monitoring of top and bottom performing lines and taking action to maximise benefit respectively

  • Good understanding of production processes and impact on purchasing decisions

  • Negotiate fixed price periods with suppliers

  • Identify and deliver cost savings

  • Secure best rates for each commodity and development

  • Accurately report cost changes in line with budget and timescales

  • Deliver buying processes within agreed timescales and targets as determined by the business

  • Monitor material quality and performance of suppliers against agreed standards, providing effective and timely feedback

  • Maintain all data and information on appropriate systems and documentation, accurately and within agreed timescales

To apply you must have Buying of products experience (ideally point of sale items). You must possess excellent negotiation/communication skills as well as having experience of managing and negotiating with multiple suppliers. Excellent attention to detail and good IT skills especially MS Excel. THIS IS A ROLE FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO GROW WITH THE POSITION, POSSESS EXCELLENT ATTENTION TO DETAIL, AN ENTHUSIASTIC ATTITUDE AND A CONFIDENT MANNER. This is not a typical nine to five role, however the company rewards hard work and attitude.
