Systems Integration Manager – Thame, Oxfordshire

My Client is a global leader in switching, protection and automation solutions for electrical distribution systems, with over 100 years` industry experience.

Today the company is a specialist in secondary power distribution, engineering high-performance medium voltage switchgear for utility, industrial and commercial applications, overhead line equipment and providing retrofit and automation solutions to customers internationally

The main responsibilities for this role – Systems Integration Manager (Degree Electronic Engineering, SCADA Automation Systems, Communication Devices – Modems, Radios, GSM, GPRS, PSTN, Routers, Firewalls, Ethernet, Experience of RTU`s, IED`s, and PLC`s, Knowledge of MV Distribution Systems and Switchgear, Commissioning techniques )

The Systems Integration Manager (SIM) is a new role within the Project Office Team. The job holder will be working in a high pressure environment and in situations where, delivery of the role will require the ability to deliver `brilliant` solutions in a `fixed price` environment, is both essential and second nature.

The SIM will be the technical owner of the overarching system architecture, for the automation of export projects, primarily in Africa (Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, etc.) and other parts of the world (St Kitts). However, the possibility exists to become involved in many other engineering tasks.

Under the umbrella of overarching System Architecture is:

Scada Control Systems

Distribution Substation based Mechanical and Electrical

Civil and Structural

Installation & Commissioning

The job holder will, using their knowledge and experience, be able to determine the solution needed, in order to, completely satisfy a Customer`s requirement from the Requirements document. Also to concisely evolve a top level functional specification to the relevant detail to allow sub-level functional specifications to be raised.

Where there is a lack of specifications, the SIM will compile these specifications with the help of Experts (both internal and external) within budget and time constraints of a specific project task.

The job holder will be able to provide an independent review of all lower level designs to ensure all are successfully integrated to achieve a single design and that the single design is what will be reflected on a compilation of drawings and is built. The SIM will validate that what has been designed is what has been built in the field.

Skills required for this role – Systems Integration Manager (Degree Electronic Engineering, SCADA Automation Systems, Communication Devices – Modems, Radios, GSM, GPRS, PSTN, Routers, Firewalls, Ethernet, Experience of RTU`s, IED`s, and PLC`s, Knowledge of MV Distribution Systems and Switchgear, Commissioning techniques )

Utility experience, with theoretical and practical knowledge of:

Power Networks infrastructures

SCADA Systems

Communication Systems (Radio, GPRS, Satellite)

Switchgear

MV LV Site awareness & Safety Requirements

Remote Terminal Units (RTU`s)

Commissioning techniques

The ability to develop engineering solutions that are expected to meet the Customers aspirations and this Company`s future business growth.

Understands the process for the full design lifecycle.

Able to demonstrate the ability to define the design process when needed

Excellent Configuration and Change Control capability

Able to create alternative solutions as backup planning.

Ability to compile Technical Specifications in a clear, concise, unambiguous manner explain the pros/cons of options leading to the final solution

Able to provide independent assessments of lower level specifications for completeness

Experience of Technical Risk Management
