What you will be doing
As an IT Programme Test Manager you will be leading the test teams both onshore and offshore within the IT Solutions department, ensuring that all testing activities across your portfolio of projects are carried out to department standards and that project stakeholders are managed appropriately, kept informed of progress and properly engaged when issues arise.
You will keep up-to-date with new technologies, methodologies and test tooling and bring best practice and shared learnings for the benefit of the team and wider organisation. Within your portfolio you will take ownership of the test strategy, test process, defect management, automation and performance testing and other activities as appropriate and be responsible for maintaining the balance score card for third parties.
You will inspire and respect your colleagues whilst sharing a great amount of fun. Additionally you will encourage your team to be pro-active, install a culture of continuous improvement, investigate and resolve every issue or bug and learn from their results. If things do not go quite right, you will be confident to step in, take ownership and resolve any issues straight away. Your expertise will assist you to coach, develop and performance-manage your team consistently whilst setting high performance standards that drive engagement, and lead you to exceed all company, performance and service targets. Finally you will be accountable for the balancing of accounts, compliance to company procedures, health and safety, due-diligence and the varying responsibilities of managing your teams.
What we are looking for
Significant experience of building, leading and managing multiple testing projects and teams both on-shore and off-shore
Proven stakeholder management skills at all levels of the organisation
Ability to challenge and ask pertinent questions to drive best practice and ensure the right approach
Happy to get stuck in to the detail as required and support team at the coal face when issues arise
Experience of planning and managing E-Commerce and Customer facing testing activities
Experience with a range of testing tools – Bugzilla, TestOpia, Jira, Rally, QA Complete and Selenium Web Driver
ISEB/ISTQB test management certification
Fully conversant with a range of test activities, Functional Test, SIT, Regression, Operational Acceptance, Performance, UAT, OAT, Automation
Detailed knowledge of defect management and relevant Test Management tools
Experience of working in a demanding Customer facing industry is desirable
