A global content company, one of the world’s largest creators and producers of programme brands are currently seeking a Senior Royalties Assistant to join their crucial Royalties department. This organisation commands a leading position in major media markets globally, creating drama, entertainment and factual programming in around 40 countries.
The Royalties department is responsible for ensuring third party format owners, agents and beneficiaries are paid their share of revenues generated by activities based in the UK, in addition to global production and format sales divisions.
This role provides crucial support to the Royalties Management and the team in general, ensuring timely and accurate accounting – both within the Royalties system and the financial ledgers of the company.
Delivery Royalty statements as defined within contractual agreements to ensure that Royalty files hold sufficient backup for audit purposes
Completion of Royalty accounting for complex contractual obligations for key talent or commercially sensitive business partners
Maintain key relationships both internally (finance & legal teams) and externally (beneficiaries & agents), resolving any queries and passing complex/sensitive queries to senior Royalties team members
Preparation of corresponding financial journals and payment headers for input into the accounting system SAP to ensure financial accounting entries (vendors, advances, recharges etc.) are complete and accurate
Initiate payments to beneficiaries by preparation of self-billed invoices or by requesting a beneficiary’s invoice
Preparing balance sheet reconciliations for accounts that directly relate to royalties (recharges, cash in transit, third party royalties etc.)
Interpreting contracts to prepare reporting to contractual parties (agents and beneficiaries) and checking master data input onto the DPS royalties system is in accordance with contractual agreements
Identifying and recommending process improvements to the Royalties Manager
Thorough previous experience of producing royalties statements and exposure to other central accounts functions
Strong Excel skills
Able to interpret contractual agreements
Organised, methodical and able to work under time pressure
Ability to both communicate with and influence others, building relationships internally and externally
Ideally some previous supervisory experience
