This well established civil and structural consultancy based in Barking, Essex is seeking a Structural CAD Technician to join their office. This is for a permanent position which attracts a salary bracket of Â£27,000 – Â£35,000.
The consultancy is the design arm of a large demolition company and with all the projects coming through their doors, they require an employee who can use CAD skills to produce drawings for their permanent and temporary works structures teams. You will be under the supervision of structural engineers, creating 2D and 3D renderings with design programs such as AutoCAD and Revit.
You must be proficient in the use of AutoCAD and your CV should demonstrate your previous experiences in building structures consultancies.
Create complex drawings and renderings of structural components, including framework, foundations, roofs, retaining walls and Temporary Works.
Assist engineers in outlining designs, gathering data, performing graphic imaging, drawing sketches of existing structures and interpreting structural markups.
Visit construction sites with structural engineers to better understand the requirements of individual jobs.
Maintaining control of issuing documents to clients, architects and any other interested parties
Typical Qualifications and Education Requirements:
BTEC ONC Structural Engineering
City & Guilds AutoCAD
Excellent technical and communication skills
Excellent organisation skills
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
A sound knowledge of engineering design principles
Good numeracy and computer skills
A knowledge of material properties
An understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods
Good problem-solving skills
The ability to work as part of a team
The ability to meet deadlines
You should be happy doing mostly residential, whole house refurbishments, underpinning of basements, extensions and loft conversations as this is the consultancy’s bread and butter.
Own transport is required to get to work, they are a 30 minute bus and walk from nearest tube station. Due to the location of the office, just outside Barking, living in East London or Essex is a distinct advantage.
