Sense is a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind.
We currently have the opportunity for a passionate, hardworking, driven individual to join Sense’s Children Specialist Services Team, to help us make a difference to deafblind children and their family’s lives. This position is for 22.5 Hours per week on a temporary basis for 6 months, the role is interesting, challenging and exciting in which two days are never the same.

Sense has been helping people who are deafblind and with sensory impairments to enjoy more independent lives for over 60 years. We support and campaign for people of all ages, from children through to older people, with a wide range of sight and hearing difficulties and associated communication needs or additional learning disabilities. We provide tailored support, advice and information as well as specialist services to individuals, their families, carers and the professionals who work with them.
About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated deputy business support manager to support our Children’s Specialist Services Operations. Our current manager has been seconded to undertake specific development opportunities and we are looking for someone to work alongside her to ensure the smooth running of the business development and support service functions. The role includes developing the marketing of our training and consultancy services as well as ensuring contracting arrangements are in place. The successful candidate will also be required to ensure that the services data collection requirements run smoothly to demonstrate the effectiveness of the services’ work.
Skills and abilities
We would like to hear from individuals who have worked within or have an understanding of Specialist Education or Social Care services. The role is very varied so you will need to be highly organised and able to manage a wide ranging work load; experience of developing marketing strategies and project management is also essential.
The role requires the candidate to be educated to a degree level or to have relevant work experience as an equivalent. The role will involve working with internal and external agencies and there will also be opportunities to work with children who are deafblind and their families, so experience or knowledge of working with people with disabilities is desirable.
The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to engage a wide audience to build sustainable working relationships and achieve results.
