Business Development Manager required for one of the most well established, entrepreneurially minded and technologically driven companies in the UK. Based in the heart of London, moments away from Hammersmith Station, in their state of the art HQ.

The company has enjoyed a substantial amount of success in the UK Public Sector and has recorded another year of incredible growth (79% last financial year) and as a result, they were recently acquired by a global PLC, with full autonomy to continue their business practices – benefitting from further investment and opening many new doors.

Their custom-made, tailored solutions have become essential parts in some of the most critical areas of UK Government, and have earned them a strong brand name within the sector, despite their modest size compared to many of the big vendors.

In order to sustain this growth and capitalise upon these new opportunities presented by the acquisition, the company is now in need of their next Business Development Manager who will generate interest in services, network with key individuals and offer the following products:

  • Secure, bespoke software and system development, planning and support.
  • Service Delivery Management
  • 2nd Line Service Desk
  • 3rd Line Application Support
  • Secure Support Development

In addition to this, the more expansive list of solutions and products can be found in the Digital Marketplace where they have 32 G Cloud 6 entries and have qualified for 6 of the 7 capabilities under the Digital Services 2 framework.

The combined propositions allow the client to complete full end-to-end projects comprising, business requirements analysis, design & build of bespoke applications, and secure managed services delivered directly and through business partners.
You will be able to demonstrate the ability to build business-class relationships and to foster trust with decision makers.

The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to:

  • Prospect for new clients by networking, cold calling, advertising or other means of generating interest from potential clients.
  • Identify opportunities which represent closable business
  • Qualify opportunities in terms of chance of success, competition, timescales, procurement process and win criteria
  • Report on activity and maintain accuracy of internal sales systems

You will be expected to have a working knowledge of the application development and application management marketplace.

As a Business Development Manager and as a member of the sales team, you will contribute to the smooth running of the overall sales function, providing input based on your experience and knowledge. It is envisaged that the following activities will form a routine element of the role:

  • Attend industry functions such as association events and conferences; provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior-level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to incremental sales.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.

This role is based from the Hammersmith office primarily; however travel throughout the UK may be required to cultivate relationships and sales. As a matter of course, staff are cleared to SC level and as such you will need to have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years.

The successful Business Development Manager will continue the growth of sales pipeline and will be an individual who can demonstrate a dynamic approach to generating incremental revenues within the sector. You will be expected to lead opportunities of value ranging from £100k to £2m, with some being worth in excess of £5m. Experience with this level of revenue is most beneficial.

With at least 5 years’ experience, you will be a solution sales individual and a confident communicator, able to position alternate approaches to achieving customer requirements. You will have a mature understanding of how customers buy managed and professional services in the Public or Private Sector with a working knowledge of UK government frameworks.

The Business Development Manager will play a key role in leveraging the current success with new name customers operating as either prime or sub-contractor as best meets the customer’s needs.

It is essential that you have Government / Publice Sector experience and ideally have experience of either Managed Services or Solutions Sales.
