To manage and control an Engineering Shift whose function is the maintenance and repair of all plant, equipment, machinery and services on site in order to ensure Production needs are met in the most efficient manner.
To manage and control all maintenance activities on shift.
To ensure the standards agreed within the maintenance function are met by all maintenance staff.
Monitor and evaluate machinery efficiency levels on an ongoing basis and introduce engineering improvements as appropriate.
To ensure that the planned maintenance schedule is up to date and all paperwork is filled in correctly
To ensure all engineers under your control adhere to the companies Hygiene & Health & Safety rules.
To undertake specific projects as designated by the Engineering Manager.
To promote a teamwork approach within the engineering department.
To liaise effectively and promptly with Production Management re;
1)Status of Breakdowns
2)Planning of urgent remedial work
3)Planning weekend work
4)Ongoing machine performance.
To liaise with Nightshift hygiene with regard to engineering works planned during cleaning times.
To take an active role in Health & Safety initiatives on site.
To deputise for the engineering manager in his absence.
To keep the engineering workshop clean and tidy by promoting good hygiene standards.
This role would suit an apprentice trained engineer and who holds relevant engineering qualifications. Experience of leading a technical team within an engineering manufacturing environment. A good appreciation of electrical systems / installations and equally a good mechanical knowledge as well as installation experience.
If you have worked with PPM systems, have PLC knowledge, have come from an FMCG process environment this would be ideal.
