We have an exciting opportunity to join a very well established financial services organisation that are seeking to recruit an experience Project / Operations Manager to join their business. The role will require you to be responsible for the planning; coordination; execution and communication of each project, ensuring deliverables accurately reflect the operational need and the purpose of the project. All project progress will be reported out and measured against the agreed plan and any deviations to the plan will be managed and/or escalated through the agreed project governance channels

The remit of this role will span across the operational structure covering all subsidiaries and locations (UK and abroad – traveling will be required), providing a breadth of knowledge and understanding across the whole business to optimise service and processing opportunities.

The role holder will work closely with the operational teams to understand their business needs. Acting as an ‘operational champion’, they will work together with the appropriate supporting functions to ensure that each initiative is accurately designed, developed, executed and embedded according to those business needs.

Duties will include:

  • Effectively lead and manage multiply initiatives/projects assigned
  • Work closely with Operations and key stakeholders to agree project objectives and deliverables
  • Ensure each project has an agreed project sponsor, relevant steering committees and resourced appropriately
  • Act as an ‘Operational Champion’ ensuring the agreed initiatives are delivered to fit the needs of the operations and aligned to their growth strategy and target operating model
  • Work closely with the Operations Transformation teams to assigned initiative/project to ensure they joined up understanding of the operational requirements
  • Lead & coach the Transformation Teams through the project lifecycle ensuring they effectively support the initiative/project from business requirements gathering through to execution and post implementation support
  • Working closely with other key business functions required to deliver the initiative/project and ensure the operational requirements are accurately translated to all design and delivery of the solution
  • Manage all initiates/projects within the agreed project governance structure ensuring they are delivered on time, on budget and within the agreed scope
  • Effectively manage any risks, issues, deviations or road blocks that may arise
  • Ensure all decisions are accurately captured / documented, agreed and communicated
  • Any agreed decisions that may change the dynamic of the project (time, budget and scope/deliverables) must also be re-baselined to reflect the decision
  • Ensure any technical specification required for the initiative/project is documented
  • Ensure that any technical design & plans required for the initiative/project are managed by the respective areas
  • Support the business through pre & post ‘Go-live’ including co-ordination of lessons learnt sessions
  • Documenting, maintaining and approval of the required policy, procedures and governance standards required across the Operational Transformation team
  • Support with the Operational quality Assurance framework ensuring all risks and issues are managed effectively
  • Line manage and coach all direct reports, including all aspects of performance management, development, conduct, sickness management, appraisals, employee administration and recruitment
  • Regular and accurate production of key management information

Key skills and experience required:

  • Retail Banking and/or Mortgage originations environment is essential
  • Project Management experience is essential
  • Previous experience of stakeholder management and managing the acceptance of change is essential
  • Multi-locations or offshore internal clients is desirable
  • Previous experience in implementing 3rd party solutions and working with 3rd party suppliers is desirable
  • Detailed knowledge of the project lifecycle and a variety of project approaches is essential
  • Basic knowledge of 1st and 2nd mortgage originations and servicing is essential
  • Prince 2 foundation/practitioner, PMI or other project management qualification is essential
  • Intermediate knowledge of all Microsoft office packages i.e. Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint is essential
  • Good working knowledge of DRP, Phoebus and workflow design is desirable
