You’re highly motivated, have excellent organisational skills, know how to inspire and motivate others and understand what it takes to manage the operational aspects of a health club. You also have a passion for delivering an experience above and beyond your customers’ expectations. In short, you’re ideal for the role of Operations Manager at Virgin Active.
As Operations Manager, you’ll oversee and take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of brilliant basics and operations, including Brand Standards, Customer Service and Safety. We’ll also look to you to co-ordinate the service management duties of head of department staff and manage the Front of House team through the Member Services Manager. Managing the Lifeguard teams will also come under your remit, as will ensuring that the pool rules & regulations are adhered to at all times. And, when it comes to supporting the General Manager in key areas or deputising in their absence, again, it’s you we’ll turn to. Making sure health and safety procedures are being carried out; checking that areas and equipment are well presented and maintained and seeing that the Membercare team do their job properly – all are aspects of this vital role.
To rise to the challenge, you’ll need excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to be accessible to members and colleagues alike at all times. It’s also vital that you have a genuine interest in wanting to tackle and resolve members’ queries. In fact, a proven ability to respond positively to challenges and negative situations and turn them into positive interactions is a must. In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and regulations is key, as are excellent administration skills and, as a member of the service management team, a willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required. And, if you have a recognised Lifeguard qualification, even better (although we can support you to attain one).
In return for your expertise, you’ll enjoy an enviable range of benefits including a good basic salary, generous Virgin Group discounts, fantastic career opportunities and free health club membership for you and a friend.
This is a full time role working 40 hours per week; 5 days out of 7. Flexibility is required to suit the needs of the business and will include, early (6am-2.30pm), late (2-10.30pm) & weekend shifts to support club opening hours. The successful candidate will need to be available for the full complexity of shifts, which are on a rota basis.
