Network Engineer/ Technical Support Engineer

Job Overview of the Network Engineer/ Technical Support Engineer:
The primary duty of the on-site engineer is to provide technical expertise to a customer across several sites within Swindon.

Responsibilities of the Network Engineer/ Technical Support Engineer:
*Provide on-site cover from 09.00-17.30 Monday-Friday, excluding public bank holidays
*Provide hardware break fix support, typically by whole unit swap within contractual SLAs
*Provide Hands and Feet support for the network environment by following instructions as defined by the customer NOCs ensuring that effective communication of progress of assigned instructions is maintained at all times
*Testing of supported systems within established standards and guidelines
*To test and pre-configure equipment prior to installation
*Provide infrastructure administration functions
*Provide limited on-site user training
*Taking ownership of issues through to resolution on all appropriate requests, ensuring defined escalation processes followed at all times.
*Performing asset inventory activities as needed.
*Support VIP users within Desktop environment.
*Perform other duties as assigned.

*Adhere to defined Processes and work instructions which will include the management of both proactive and reactive escalations
*Ability to effectively interface with multiple levels of end users, management, ‘VIPs’ and local technical staff
*Flexible to work occasional out of hours
*Must have their own means of transport and be willing to travel.

Technical skills and Experience * At least 2 - 4 years of experience in a similar role. *Technical appreciation of technology in some or all of the areas listed: oMicrosoft Communications oCisco oAerohive oFortinet oMicrotik oDraytek *Experience in remote support tools, helpdesk ticketing systems, working to SLAs. *Ability to support and provide hands-on assistance for IT infrastructure projects /upgrades. Desirable skills and Experience *Proven and thorough understanding of backup, DR, security and monitoring principles. *Prior experience on Desktops, Workstations, Notebooks and Printers. *Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
